What this day gives you
Two hours at Pena Park and Palace
A longer stop than most group departures to Sintra manage.
Capped at eight travellers
An air-conditioned minivan, not a coach, and a guide who can hear you.
Pena tickets bundled or optional
Choose at booking; the bundled option holds your timed slot.
An hour free in the historic centre
Time for the National Palace square, the tile shops and a travesseiro.
Cabo da Roca and Guincho
The western edge of Europe, then the surf coast on the road south.
Ninety minutes in Cascais
Enough for the old centre, the marina and Boca do Inferno.
Eight travellers, two hours inside Pena
The number that matters on this one is eight. That is the cap, and it changes the day: the vehicle is a minivan, the guide talks rather than broadcasts, and the group moves through Pena at walking pace instead of shuffling.
The second number is two hours — the time this tour gives to Pena Park and Palace. Most group departures from Lisbon give ninety minutes, and thirty of those go on the approach. Two hours is the difference between seeing the palace and standing in it.
The operator's own line is that the tour allows more free time in Sintra than most, and the itinerary bears it out: an hour in the historic centre on top of the palace time, before the day turns for the coast.
From Avenida da Liberdade to Cabo da Roca
- 08:00 — Hard Rock Cafe, Avenida da Liberdade 2. Meet in front; the guide usually parks underground, so do not worry if no van is visible.
- 09:00 — Pena Park. Into the park first, up through the trails, then the palace itself. Two hours in total.
- 11:00 — Sintra historic centre. An hour free. The National Palace is here if you want it on your own ticket.
- 12:15 — Cabo da Roca. Thirty minutes at the cliffs, with the Sintra-Cascais natural park on the drive over.
- 13:15 — Guincho and Boca do Inferno. Pass-bys on the coast road.
- 13:45 — Cascais. Ninety minutes: the alleyways, the white houses, lunch if you want it.
- 16:00 — back via Estoril to the same meeting point.
The Regaleira upgrade, and whether to take it
Quinta da Regaleira is not on the standard route. It is an upgrade — select ‘Upgrade to include Regaleira’ at booking and ninety minutes at the estate, tickets included, are added to the day.
Take it if this is your only day in Sintra and you want the Initiation Well, which is the single most photographed thing in the town after Pena itself. Skip it if you would rather have the coast unhurried, or if you are travelling with anyone who will struggle with a second monument's worth of steps.
Included
- Pena Palace and Park tickets, included or optional depending on the option chosen
- A local guide for the full day
- Air-conditioned minivan, capped at eight travellers
- Quinta da Regaleira tickets on the upgrade option only
Not included
- Hotel pickup and drop-off

- Gratuities
- Same-day palace tickets if you book the no-tickets option
Meeting at the Hard Rock Cafe
The meeting point is in front of the Hard Rock Cafe at Avenida da Liberdade 2, at the bottom of the avenue and a two-minute walk from Restauradores metro. The tour ends back at the same place.
There is no hotel pickup on this one, which is part of why the fare is what it is. Be there for 08:00 rather than at 08:00 — with eight seats sold, a late arrival is noticed. Infant and child seats are mandatory for children aged 0 to 11 and are available on request if you give the child's age when booking.

Who this suits, and who should book something else
Book this one if…
Travellers who would rather have depth than a longer list of stops, and anyone who finds a full coach hard work. The eight-seat cap makes it a good choice for couples and for solo travellers who want to talk to someone.
Book something else if…
Anyone who needs hotel pickup, or who is travelling with luggage or a stroller — there is no room for either in the vehicle. Try the private full-day tour with door-to-door pickup.
Know before you go
- Pickup is not included. Make your own way to the Hard Rock Cafe on Avenida da Liberdade for 08:00.
- There is no room for strollers or luggage. Leave both at your accommodation; the palace has a stroller store if you need one on site.
- Child seats are mandatory for ages 0 to 11. Give the child's age when you book and the operator supplies one.
- Regaleira is an upgrade, not a default. Select it at checkout if you want it — it cannot be added on the day.
- On the no-tickets option, same-day Pena tickets may be limited. Confirm your plan with the guide in the morning, or book the ticket-inclusive fare.
- The group can be split across vehicles above eight people. Book together and tell the operator if you must travel in one van.
What travellers said about this day
“Eight hours, and the small group of seven made it comfortable. António was attentive the whole way and the countryside drive into Sintra is worth the early start on its own.”
A traveller, United States · Couple · August 2026
“Maria knew the region’s history and traditions, played fado on the drive and explained what we were hearing, and was never once late. I cannot picture this Sintra day trip without her.”
Julie N., United States · Family · June 2026
“The start of the walk up to the palace is a bit tough, but it only lasts about ten minutes and the guide warned us in advance. Everything else about the day ran to time.”
